WASHINGTON, DC, JANUARY 20 – In response to President Biden’s decision to re-enter the Paris climate agreement, the SmarterSafer Coalition issued the following statement:
“The SmarterSafer Coalition applauds President Biden for his decision to re-enter the Paris climate agreement. This decision sends a clear signal that climate action is a top priority for the Biden administration and reasserts America’s commitment to global leadership confronting this existential threat to our way of life.
Our changing climate has dramatically increased the frequency and severity of some natural catastrophes, putting communities in our country and across the world at risk. Our leaders at every level of government must find ways to make taxpayer dollars go farther in protecting our environment and all American people from climate risks. This includes investing in pre-disaster mitigation and creating more resilient communities before disaster strikes. We look forward to working with the Biden administration to enact common-sense, bipartisan solutions to combat climate change and the immense challenges that come with it.”
SmarterSafer is a national coalition made up of a diverse chorus of voices united in favor of environmentally responsible, fiscally sound approaches to natural catastrophe policy that promote public safety.
