Washington, DC, December 18 – Today, the SmarterSafer Coalition (Coalition) released the following statement in response to the appointment of Gina McCarthy, SmarterSafer member and President and CEO of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), on her appointment as National Climate Advisor for President-elect Biden’s incoming administration:
“We congratulate Gina McCarthy today for her appointment as National Climate Advisor for the incoming Biden administration. Administrator McCarthy is a devoted advocate for climate change action and will undoubtedly be a strong voice in advancing policies that better protect our communities from threats posed by natural disasters.
Under McCarthy’s leadership, NRDC has worked closely with the SmarterSafer Coalition to address some of our nation’s most pressing climate-related issues. We look forward to collaborating with Administrator McCarthy in her new role to advance common sense pre-disaster mitigation and climate adaptation solutions that protect the environment and better deploy taxpayer dollars.”
SmarterSafer.org is a national coalition made up of a diverse chorus of voices united in favor of environmentally responsible, fiscally sound approaches to natural catastrophe policy that promote public safety.
